Hair Replacement

general term for any procedure in which encroaching baldness is non-surgical

micrografts, scalp flaps, scalplifting procedures, scalp reduction, and tissue
expanders
Male Pattern Baldness
A
progressive, diffuse loss of scalp hair in men that begins in the twenties or
early thirties, depends on the presence of the androgenic hormone testosterone,
and is caused by a combination of genetic and hormonal factors. Also called alopecia
hereditaria, androgenetic alopecia, male pattern alopecia, patterned
alopecia.
Alopecia simply means hair
loss (baldness).
Alopecia areata
is
a condition that causes round patches of hair loss, and can lead to total hair
loss.
Alopecia
totalis
is the loss of all head hair.
Alopecia
universalis
is
a medical condition involving rapid loss of all hair of the head and the body.
Bald/ Balding
having
little or no hair on the scalp.
Hair transplantation
is a surgical procedure used to treat baldness
or hair loss. Typically, tiny patches of scalp are removed from the back and
sides of the head and implanted in the bald spots in the front and top of the
head.
Hair graft
a thin strip of hair-bearing scalp is removed,
separated into pieces of 1 to 5 hair follicles, and then implanted into
hairless areas.
